I've been playing
The Darkness for the PS3. I was actually planning to review it as I got it off a trusted recommendation from a local GameStop employee and basically fell in love. I almost never finish games, but I was able to blow about 80-90% of the way through The Darkness in two sittings.
And then I hit a bug that won't let me finish the game.
Get this. If you actually do the side quests throughout the game (think of it as an action-RPG of sorts), when you hit chapter five (of five), the game will freeze when loading the area you need to move onto. So basically, if you want to beat the game, people recommend loading all the way back to chapter three (a few hours lost perhaps, depending on your speed), skipping all side quests, and running back to chapter five.
Suffice to say, I'm pissed. The publisher won't accept a return. GameStop won't accept it as defective, they'll just swap it out for another disc. So I'm stuck with a game that I must either backtrack a few hours in and beat in an incomplete manor, or sit until (hopefully) they patch it so I can finish the game.
Why is it legal for commercial software publishers to be able to sell products which can't be returned if defective? I guess next time I'm dealing with 2K Games I'll rent first before dropping $60.
